Kindred Spirit
In the early morning light
a tiny brown spider
outside the window pane
tosses wildly with the wind gusts
but doesn’t fall.
I have to get my glasses
to see the almost imperceptible
filaments that hold it up
lines so thin
even embroidery thread is wider
not nearly a web
just a few strands unbroken.
The creature
ceaselessly buffeted
swings suspended
hangs in there.
