Untitled
zen meditation retreat
sesshin in japanese
day three
the hardest stretch typically
statue still, mimicking a saint
no words pass angelic lips
while you silently ask
what the fuck am I doing here
staring at the wall with
these other suckers
then chimes
ting on ancient breeze
while despite best efforts
to hate this day
there is
no distinction
ting! myself
same
and you weep
in awe
at a bell’s ability
to shed tears
Karen Anne Hayes is a newcomer to the Cape, but is not sure she should mention that.
A writer of prose and poetry, she uses the word to paint a panel of experience to which she would otherwise only be privy. And hopes that her renderings are of some benefit.
Teacher, practitioner of Chinese medicine, lover of travel, Zen meditation, cooking, gardening and photography, Karen feels blessed to be on the Cape where inspiration lurks in every direction.
